The Russian Mirra Andreeva, 8th player in the world at 19, qualified for her first Roland-Garros final, at the expense of the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (15th), undefeated on clay until then this season, whom she swept aside 6-1, 6-3, in 1h16.

The clash between the two best players on ocher this season ended short, the Siberian having played despite the wind thanks to a well-regulated serve.

A precocious talent who reached the semi-finals of Roland-Garros in 2024 at the age of 17, Andreeva will experience her first final of a Major against her compatriot Diana Shnaider (23rd) or the Pole from qualifying Maja Chwalinska (114th). In both cases, she will be the favorite.

Over the last thirty years, only three players have reached the Porte d’Auteuil final while being younger: Martina Hingis (1997, 1999), Kim Clijsters (2001) and Coco Gauff (2022).

Too many mistakes for Kostyuk

Kostyuk, who has won all 16 of her matches on clay so far (17 including the BJK Cup), beat four-time winner Iga Swiatek and then her compatriot Elina Svitolina to reach the final four in Paris for the first time.

But her game let her down against Andreeva, in terms of unforced errors (34 against 22) and first serves (51% efficiency on her first serve, compared to 73%). She had to save five break points to win her only game of the first set.

Closing the central roof at 4-1 in the next set coincided with its resurgence in form. Kostyuk won two games in a row, but was unable to follow up.
