Yann Sommer future investor in a Portuguese club?

Yann Sommer certainly has very bad memories of the last time he crossed paths with Portugal. It was December 6, 2022, in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, and he had conceded 6 goals in a heavy 6-1 defeat. The goalkeeper, however, does not hold grudges. As reported by the German daily “Bild”, he is part of a group that wishes to buy CF Estrela da Amadora.

The native of Morges would be involved in this investment – the Portuguese press mentions an amount of 40 million euros – alongside German world champions Thomas Müller, his former teammate at Bayern Munich, and Mats Hummels.

According to the media “Merkur.de”, Johannes Mösmang, the current integration manager of the Bavarian club, is at the origin of this project and would have brought together the goalkeeper, the defender and the attacker in order to benefit from their sporting expertise in all areas of the game and their public image.

Based in the suburbs of Lisbon, CF Estrela da Amadora was founded in 2020 to enable the rebirth of the club of the same name created in 1932 and disappeared in 2011 for financial reasons. The Tricolores have been playing in the Portuguese first division since 2023 and finished the last championship in 15th place.

If Yann Sommer, who no longer has a contract with Inter for the 2026-2027 season, does not yet know what his future holds on the pitch, he seems to be more clear about his post-career with this Portuguese project.
