Nagui will leave, at the end of the season, the presentation of the daily show “The Original Band” on France Inter, which he has piloted since 2014, public radio told AFP on Wednesday, confirming information from “Parisien”.

“After 12 years at the head of “The Original Band”, Nagui told us of his wish to stop this show” which he co-hosts with Leïla Kaddour-Boudadi, announced the management of France Inter in a statement sent to AFP. “We are looking forward to writing the sequel with him and we will quickly resume discussions with Leïla and the entire “The Original Band” team for the sequel,” concluded the radio management, hailing the “incredible success” of the program, “the undisputed leader on its segment”.

Flagship program of France Inter for 12 years

This entertainment show is broadcast Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Surrounded by columnists, Nagui and Leïla Kaddour-Boudadi receive cultural guests. In cumulative audience (number of people who listened to it at least once), “The Original Band” attracted some 1.9 million listeners every day on average over the period from January to March, according to figures from Médiamétrie. If we measure the average number of people listening over a quarter of an hour, the show reaches 993,000 listeners. It is the leader in its segment for both indicators.

The announcement of the departure of Nagui, who is also a leading figure at France Télévisions, comes a few weeks after heated debates about him within the framework of the National Assembly’s commission of inquiry into public broadcasting. During his hearing on April 1, the host-producer accused the commission’s rapporteur, UDR deputy Charles Alloncle, of having “thrown him out to pasture” and of having triggered a “campaign of hatred” by unduly asserting, according to him, at the end of 2025 that he was “the person (…) who had enriched himself the most with public money”.
