We have our first round of mail-in ballot results after the Mail-in Ballot Canvass 1 on July 21st in Carroll County.
Here are the races being watched closely right now in Carroll County:
Commissioner District 3:
Projected Winners: (R) Too Close To Call , (D) Zach Hands
Notes: Gordon slightly extended his lead in the Republican Primary over Herbert. There are still enough potential votes out there to call this race just yet…so stay tuned to the updates after Provisional canvass and Mail-in canvass 2.
Maryland State Delegate District 5:
Projected Winners: April Rose, Chris Tomlinson, 3rd seat too close to call
Notes: Rose and Tomlinson extended their leads and seem safe in this race for the top two spots. The third seat got a little less clear. Bouchat extended his lead over Taylor for third currently. Wantz had a great mail-in vote showing on canvass 1. Provisionals and Mail-In Canvass 2 will decide that third seat.
Here are updated totals in other local races: None of the previously noted projections have changed.
Commissioner District 1:
Projected Winner: Joe Vigliotti
Commissioner District 2:
Projected Winner: Kenneth A. Kiler
Commissioner District 4:
Projected Winner: Michael R. Guerin
Commissioner District 5:
Projected Winner: Ed Rothstein
Board of Education:
Projected Winners: Battaglia, Dorsey, Jozkowski, Miller, Scanlan and Whisler
Note: The 6 moving forward to the General Election are the same…but the order they will finish in after the Primary is still the interesting thing to see play out. This will be THE race in Carroll County that gets a lot of attention (as it should) in the General.
State’s Attorney:
Projected Winner: Haven Shoemaker
Maryland State Senate District 5:
Projected Winner: Justin Ready
Maryland State Senate District 42:
Projected Winner: Chris West
Maryland State Delegate District 42C:
