“On July 21, 2026, the investigating judge, contacted by Patrick Bruel’s lawyers with a request for partial release of the judicial control relating to the ban on leaving the national territory, granted it,” Nanterre deputy prosecutor Virginie Deneux explained to AFP, confirming information from Mediapart.
Friday evening, the information site revealed the easing of judicial control of the singer, mentioning having heard of “several messages from readers who were surprised to have encountered Patrick Bruel abroad this summer, in an airport corridor or in a hotel”.
According to the investigative media, the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office considered this decision “unjustified” and “excessive”. The hearing took place on Friday before the investigating chamber of the Versailles Court of Appeal, according to RTL. The decision was deliberated on September 16.
Indicted in four cases
The 67-year-old artist has been indicted since mid-June in four cases and placed under the status of assisted witness in four others.
At least eight new complaints were filed against him for acts of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault, committed between September 1992 and 2014. The last two complaints were filed on July 16 and 23, with the first district of the Paris judicial police. Contacted on Saturday by AFP, Patrick Bruel’s lawyers did not react.
