The American owners of the English club Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group, announced on Friday the sale of a minority of shares to a group of investors including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

The 62-year-old multi-billionaire is part of the consortium named 1892 Holdings, in reference to the year Liverpool FC was founded, which brings together funds from businessman Amit Bhatia, the Mittal family and the couple Elaine and Eduardo Saverin, the co-founder of Facebook, according to the press release, without indication of the amount of the transaction, nor the level of the participation concerned.
