Belgium qualifies thanks to a penalty in the 125th minute

Belgium snatched its qualification for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by beating Senegal thanks to a penalty obtained at the end of overtime (3-2, ap), Wednesday in Seattle.

The Senegalese led 2-0 after goals from Habib Diarra (24th) and Ismaila Sarr (51st) but the Belgians came back in three minutes thanks to Romelu Lukaku (86th) and Youri Tielemans (89th) before obtaining a penalty in the final minutes of overtime, transformed by Tielemans (120th+5).

Belgium will meet in the 8th final, on July 7 again in Seattle, the United States or Bosnia-Herzegovina who face each other in San Francisco during the night (2 hours in Switzerland).
