After the cancellation of Patrick Bruel’s concerts in Quebec, his three performances in Montreal were in turn canceled, indicates the organizer’s website on Wednesday, noting the abandonment of the Canadian tour of the French singer, accused of sexual violence.
“Unfortunately, the event organizer was forced to cancel your event,” we can read on the Ticketmaster website, responsible for selling tickets for these concerts, initially scheduled for November 28 and 29 as well as December 3.
Targeted by at least four investigations for rape in France and a judicial investigation in Belgium for sexual assault, Patrick Bruel – who contests all the facts with which he is accused – canceled last week his concerts planned until the fall, and in festivals this summer, including in Pully (VD).
The tour falls through
In mid-May, three other concerts planned in Quebec in December had also been canceled as part of this tour designed to celebrate his hits, especially those from the album “Pars voir” released in 1989 and which represents the greatest success of his career with three million copies sold.
In the eyes of feminist associations and several mayors of cities where he was or will be performing, Patrick Bruel must give up going on stage until the investigations are completed.
Clashes with spectators
On Wednesday evening, the Nous Tous collective carried out a second action at the Édouard VII theater in Paris, where Patrick Bruel is performing in the play “Second Part”. After disrupting the performance last week, around ten of its members this time demonstrated in front of the venue chanting “Bruel rapist” or “No stage for the attackers”, noted an AFP journalist.
A few clashes with spectators who came to see the play occurred on this occasion, before the demonstrators left the premises.
