Princess Kate will travel to Italy next week with her early childhood foundation, her first official trip abroad since announcing her cancer, from which she is in remission, more than two years ago.
The Princess of Wales, wife of the heir to the throne William, will visit the city of Reggio Emilia (northern Italy) on May 13 and 14 with the Early Years Center, which she created in 2021.
The Princess’ last official foreign visit was in December 2022, when she traveled to Boston, United States, with William for the presentation of her Earthshot Environmental Prize.
According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, “the princess is very much looking forward to going to Italy” to learn more about Reggio pedagogy, which notably places nature, a theme dear to her, at the heart of the education of young children.
The Princess of Wales revealed in March 2024 that she had cancer, the nature of which has not been revealed, and for which she underwent chemotherapy. She then announced that she would be in remission in January 2025.
King Charles III, who celebrates the third anniversary of his coronation on Wednesday and has just returned from a state visit to the United States, is also being treated for cancer.
