Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, claimed Thursday, on the third day of the couple’s visit to Australia, to have been “the most harassed person in the world” on social networks, describing daily “attacks”.

Harry and Meghan, who have lived in California with their two children since 2020, started their first visit to Australia on Tuesday since their falling out with the British royal family.

During their trip to Melbourne on Thursday, they met the Batyr association, specializing in mental health, and strongly criticized social networks.

“For ten years now, every day for ten years, I have been the victim of harassment and attacks,” Meghan said, according to comments reported by the British agency PA. “I was the most harassed person in the world,” she even added.

The platforms “which generate billions, rely entirely on cruelty to generate clicks – and that will not change,” continued the 44-year-old former actress, who met Harry in 2016, in front of young people. “So we have to be stronger than that.”

“Overwhelmed, lost, betrayed”

Harry, youngest son of King Charles III, said that social networks caused “great loneliness among many people”.

He also spoke of the benefits of psychotherapy, recounting having experienced it after finding himself one day “literally curled up in the fetal position (…) lying on the kitchen floor.”

The 41-year-old prince also said during a conference on leadership that he had often “felt overwhelmed”, “lost, betrayed or completely powerless”.

Harry reflected on the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in an accident in 1997. After her death, “I said to myself: ‘I don’t want this role (in the royal family, Editor’s note) – wherever it leads, I don’t like it. (…) It killed my mother.”

Harry and Meghan’s visit caused controversy due to the very high prices for certain events in their program: attending the Melbourne conference cost up to 1,250 pounds sterling (1,437 euros), according to PA.

But still according to this British press agency, the prince was not paid for his speech on Thursday. Meghan would also not have been paid for her appearance on the “Masterchef” show filmed on Wednesday.
