A GoFundMe page has been setup for a family involved in the “serious crash on Rt. 140 in Finksburg on March 20th“. This accident happened in front of of Belimiso’s in Finksburg (see article link for details). As of the morning of March 25th more than $110,000 from more than 1,900 donations has been raised for the family through GoFundMe.

Here are details from the GoFundMe page:

Hi, my name is Josh and I’m fundraising for my family’s best friends. They are Brittany, Paisley, Shawn, and Ella.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 20th, Brittany was bringing her six year old daughter Paisley home from school. A driver crossed the median, striking Brittany’s vehicle head on. Nurses in traffic behind them rushed to their help, paramedics were quickly on scene, but Brittany had to be flown to Shock Trauma, and Paisley had to be flown to John Hopkins after being transported to Carroll Hospital.

Brittany has been in an extreme amount of pain. She’s needed surgery on her intestine. She has a hematoma in her stomach that’s led to several blood transfusions and blood clots in her neck. She’s been X-Ray’d, MRI’d, and CT scanned for everything you can imagine and will likely need back surgery to fix fractured bones in her vertebrae. Additionally, she’s waiting on results from MRI scans on her head, neck, and spine.

Paisley has been in critical condition and on a ventilator. She’s suffered a brain bleed, brain swelling, and numerous seizures. Her doctor’s are waiting for the swelling to recede and the seizures to calm so that they can make an accurate assessment of what’s going on with her little brain.

There are a lot of unknowns but I know that these are the kindest, most loving people we know. Brittany is my wife’s best friend and Paisley is my son’s best friend. They have stood by our side and been our shoulder when we needed them and they would do it a million times over. I’m asking all of you to please be a shoulder for them as they go through this nightmare. They are about to face a mountain of hospital bills without being able to work and no idea of what lies ahead. Even if you don’t have any money you can contribute, please take the time to think of this family. Pray for them. Love on them. If you can give, even just a dollar, please do. Please share this story with your family, friends, church, or any other avenue that can benefit them. They need and deserve every bit of help they can get.

Update on March 24th:

Update – 3/24 PM

I have to start by saying the amount of kindness and generosity you all have shown has been truly remarkable and overwhelming. I struggle to find the words to thank you, but thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

—————

Brittany’s fractures along her spine do not need surgery and will resolve themselves. However, the surgery on her intestine was not healing as fast as needed, which was causing extreme nausea and vomiting. They had to put a stomach drain back in through her mouth which is causing a lot of discomfort and making it difficult to speak. Additionally, the bottom of her spine will need to be stabilized by surgery, likely to take place next week. They determined the clots on the side of her neck have caused mini strokes but all cognitive and neurological tests have not shown any permanent side effects and they should go away with time.

They were finally able to have Paisley stable enough to take her for a CT scan and we await those results.

Please continue to keep the Strevigs in your thoughts and share this page. Thank you.
