Police make arrest in February Columbia homicide

The suspect is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the Feb. 8 shooting.

Howard County police have arrested the suspect in a Feb. 8 fatal shooting in Columbia.

Corey Conaway, 41, of Columbia, is charged with first- and second-degree murder and related counts in the shooting death of 67-year-old Perry Comeau inside his home in the 9500 block of Half Dollar Court.

Police were called to Comeau’s residence at approximately 10:49 p.m. where they found him with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Through investigation police developed Conaway, who was in a relationship with Comeau’s daughter, as a suspect. Detectives believe he and Comeau were involved in an argument and Conaway later returned to the residence to shoot him.

Conaway is being held without bond at the Howard County Detention Center.
