Information about the serious crash on Rt. 140 in Finksburg on March 20th

There was a significant crash on Rt 140 in Finksburg near Rt. 91 (in front of Belisimo’s) on March 20th. There has not been any official details released from the normal reporting sources (Maryland State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office or a detailed report from a specific fire company) on this incident. The following are some details that can be found online:

Gamber & Community Fire Company: Part of a Facebook update on March 21st:

“…the medic unit was diverted to a serious crash with rescue on Rt. 140 in Finksburg near Rt. 91 at approximately 4:13 pm.

This incident was alerted as a rescue call and multiple fire companies and ambulances from both Carroll and Baltimore Counties were dispatched.

Two vehicles were involved with people trapped. Eventually four victims were treated and two were flown out via two Maryland State Police helicopters and two were transported via ambulances.

Gamber’s Engine 134 handled the helicopter landing site located in the Finksburg Plaza near the old Pizza Hut and the Truist Bank. Gamber’s Medic 139 crew also assisted with one very seriously injured patient.”

CREWS HAVE BEEN ALERTED FOR THE VEHICLE COLLISION REPORTED SERIOUS – 2900 BLOCK OF BALTIMORE BOULEVARD

  • Carroll has upgraded this call to with rescue now.
  • OPS101 requesting aviation
  • Carroll reporting incident is in the westbound lanes. Vehicle went over the median and collided head on with another.
  • Units on scene confirming one trapped. Requesting two additional medic units.
  • This is a very bad incident please avoid the area if possible.
  • Carroll advising Trooper 1 and Trooper 3 are enroute to the scene.
  • Command advising landing zone at the Finksburg plaza.
  • Command reporting patient extricated. Command reporting 3 patients total to be flown to trauma
  • E134 advising trooper 3 on the ground
  • We will not be updating any further information to this call. Prayers go out to all involved and responders. This roadway will be closed for an extended period of time.
