HC Bienne has perhaps just completed the biggest transfer of the summer in Swiss ice hockey. The Icelandic club got their hands on Jeff Skinner (34 years old). The Canadian signed a contract until the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Jeff Skinner is a big name in the NHL, the best league in the world. He played 1,115 matches between 2010 and 2026. During this period, the striker achieved an impressive 714 points (380 goals and 334 assists).

Contracts of 34.5 and 72 million

Drafted in 2010 by the Carolina Hurricanes, Jeff Skinner immediately shone, winning the trophy for best rookie of the year in his first season in the NHL. His statistics convinced the franchise to offer him a six-year, $34.5 million contract in 2013.

In 2019, the forward joined the Buffalo Sabres, where he signed a huge contract worth $72 million over eight years.

Despite undeniable talent, Jeff Skinner never managed to win the prestigious Stanley Cup. Worse, he only played 5 play-off matches in 16 seasons. His only achievement on a collective level is a silver medal won with Canada during the 2017 World Cup.

In Biel, Jeff Skinner will bring his sense of goal to the team led by Christian Dubé. “We are welcoming a player with immense experience and recognized offensive qualities,” says Martin Steinegger, the club’s sporting director. He played for many years at the highest level and proved his ability to score goals and take offensive responsibility.”
