Film and theater actress Dominique Frot, younger sister of actress Catherine Frot, died Friday at age 68 in Paris, according to her family and her agent.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death, which occurred on August 7, of Dominique,” announced Catherine and her brother Jacques Frot on the actress’ Instagram account.
Catherine Frot’s agent, Jean-François Gabard, confirmed to AFP on Sunday her death at Tenon hospital in Paris following an illness.
Born on August 23, 1957 in Rochefort (Charente-Maritime), Dominique Frot has played numerous roles, often secondary, in plays, in television series, including “Soda”, and in around fifty films.
“Unforgettable principal Solange Vergneaux in Soda, she left an impression on viewers with her talent, her energy and her personality,” greeted M6 in a message on X.
In the cinema, she has worked in particular with the directors Claude Miller (“Mortellehike”), Gérard Oury (“The Revenge of the Feathered Serpent”), Cédric Klapisch (“Perhaps”) and Julia Ducournau (“Titane”, Palme d’or at Cannes in 2021).
Isabelle Adjani, who had filmed with her in “Mortelle ranque”, sent her a posthumous message on Instagram: “Farewell to you, Dominique. Memory of your freshness in these moments filmed by a real filmmaker, actress of this hike together on a past day, deadly for you on a present day. You will remain an actress apart in the vortex of our fate.
Dominique Frot was delighted in the spring to have filmed in Guillaume Canet’s new film, “Karma”, which is due to be released in theaters on October 21.
