Erling Haaland is a superstar in his country, Norway. Obviously, he could soon enjoy the same status in Ecuador. The reason? A crazy drug story in which the scorer for the Norwegian selection and Manchester City is indirectly involved.
Indeed, his face appears on 370 packages of cocaine seized by the Ecuadorian police this Wednesday, report the American media “CBS News” and the American press agency “AP”. Drug squad agents made the discovery while stopping a suspicious truck traveling on a road in the north of the country, near the border with Colombia.
The packages of cocaine were hidden in a double bottom in the truck’s trailer. Police confirmed in a press release that they had seized 469 kg of drugs, with an estimated value of 16 million Swiss francs.
On the other hand, the local authorities gave no explanation for the presence of Erling Haaland’s face on the cocaine bars.

The explanation is rather simple. Drug traffickers routinely put the names of sports figures and other celebrities on their shipments to identify the criminal network behind the merchandise and the customer to whom it belongs.
In the past, cocaine bearing the image of Lionel Messi had been found in Peru. In 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared on a seizure of cannabis packages in France. All these football stars obviously have no connection with the trafficking in question.
