The riders’ outfits will be checked before the 4th stage of the Tour de France, a time trial on Tuesday in Dijon, the UCI wanting to ensure the absence of any modification to the morphology of the chest that could provide an aerodynamic gain, AFP learned Monday evening.

The various teams received a press release from the International Cycling Union indicating that “particular attention will be paid to compliance with article 1.3.032 of the UCI regulations, targeting non-essential elements and clothing or other articles/accessories worn by a rider which could modify the body shape”.

The commissioners would be particularly attentive to the presence of padded bras which, by increasing the surface area of the athletes’ chest, would allow for aerodynamic gains.

Runners are invited to go to a tent dedicated to this check ten minutes before the start of their time trial in Gevrey-Chambertin.

This time should make a first selection among the contenders for the final victory, on August 9 in Nice, during a 21-kilometer time trial between Gevrey-Chambertin and Dijon. The competitors will come up against, at mid-race, the 6.9%, over 1.8 km, from Marsannay-la-Côte, before nine very rolling and rather descending kilometers towards Dijon.

The Norwegian Sigrid Haugset, winner of the 3rd stage on Monday in Poligny, wears the yellow jersey.
