After a two-hour half-time interruption due to the risk of thunderstorms, France qualified for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup by dominating Iraq 3-0 on Monday in Philadelphia, with a double from Kylian Mbappé for his 100th selection.

Already the author of two goals in the first match against Senegal (3-1 victory), Mbappé opened the scoring with a beautiful left-footed shot into the side net (14th), and doubled the lead after a long interruption at half-time, taking advantage of an error by the Iraqi defense (54th) on a soggy pitch.

Decisive passer on the second goal, Ballon d’Or Ousmane Dembélé scored his first goal in the World Cup (66th), served by Michael Olise.
