Today, May 14th, there are several things going on in and around Carroll County. Here are some of the highlights:

2024 Primary Election Day:

May 14th is Primary Election Day. This is your chance to get out and vote on a number of candidates running for office. The Observer has highlighted many the races of interest to residents in the article: “2024 Primary Election Day is May 14th – Races we are watching in Carroll County“. Polls open at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm today. To vote in person on election day, vote at your assigned polling place.

The Observer is expected to publish the results in an article tomorrow (May 15th).

FY25 Adopted Budget Work Session:

The Commissioners will be holding a work session on the FY25 budget. They are expected to discuss the feedback they have received since the release of the FY25 Proposed Budget and begin to finalize the budget for next year. One week ago the Commissioners and the County staff held the “FY25 Proposed Budget Hearing from the Carroll Arts Center“. Many interesting comments were made at that public meeting and I can only assume that a number of comments were sent to the Commissioners via email about this upcoming budget. The big item this year is will the five Republican Commissioners raise Property taxes and Recordation taxes this year in this economy the residents are facing today. This meeting today will likely give us that answer. You can watch the meeting today online here (scheduled to begin at 1:00pm): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNyZBqa0Xbk

The State’s Attorney’s office will host Carroll County’s 9th Annual Drug Overdose and Prevention Vigil:
