The Carroll County Observer will be tracking the early voting turnout throughout the 2024 Primary Election (May 2 – May 9).

Here is a recap of early voting in Carroll County on Day 1: By Location

Day 1 total votes cast in Carroll County: 627

  • Westminster had the lion share of early voters on day 1 (365 votes cast at that location).

Of the 627 votes cast on day 1: Party Breakdown

  • 194 are registered Democrats
  • 433 are registered Republicans

The 627 votes cast makes up 0.65% of eligible Primary voters in the county. This percentage topped the statewide turnout (0.46% statewide on day 1).

Note: Voters that are registered as “Unaffiliated”, “Libertarian”, and “No Labels Maryland” in Carroll County are unable to participate in the 2024 Primary. The reason is that there are no “Libertarian” or “No Labels Maryland” candidates on the 2024 Primary ballot and the Board of Education candidates are not on the ballot until the 2024 General Election. As of March 2024 the breakout of those registered voters are:

  • 30,368 “Unaffiliated” registered voters
  • 852 “Libertarian” registered voters
  • 4 “No Labels Maryland” registered voters

History of Early Voting in Presidential Primaries for Carroll County:

2020: There was no early voting in the 2020 Primary due to COVID

2016:

  • There were 692 votes cast on Day 1 of Early Voting in Carroll County

2012:

  • There were 259 votes cast on Day 1 of Early Voting in Carroll County
