Dominguez Surges in MD-03 Democratic Primary, Leading with Term Limits Support

80 Percent of Likely MD-03 Primary Voters Favor Term Limits

SEVERNA PARK, MD — A new, non-partisan poll by RMG Research, in collaboration with U.S. Term Limits, reveals a dramatic shift in Maryland’s Third Congressional District race, propelling Juan Dominguez to the forefront among likely Democratic primary voters. Initially fourth, Dominguez now leads the pack when voters learn of his staunch support for term limits.

Key findings from the poll of 423 likely Democratic primary voters in MD-03 conducted February 19-26, 2024 with a margin of sampling error of +/- 4.8 percentage points include:

  • Before term limits information, Dominguez is in fourth place.
  • Post-disclosure of his term limits stance, Dominguez leaps up 24 percentage points to first place with 27% support.
  • A resounding 80% of likely voters favor Congressional term limits.
  • A significant 51% of voters remain undecided, indicating a wide-open race.

This poll underscores the pivotal role term limits play in voters’ preferences, highlighting Dominguez’s alignment with the electorate’s desire for fresh leadership and accountability in Congress. Dominguez is the only candidate in the primary field to have signed the U.S. Term Limits Pledge.

Dominguez commented, “The support for term limits is clear. Voters are calling for change, and I am committed to bringing that change to Congress. Our campaign is about more than just one issue; it’s about transforming how politics is done – with the values of duty, honor, and country at the forefront – in our district, in Maryland, and across the nation.”

Observer Opinion: It is difficult to say if this issue (Term Limits) rises to the top of mind for voters in the 2024 election cycle. If it does, this could be good for Dominguez and any other candidate that supports term limits for members in Congress.
