After Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross and Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion joins the list of singers with a Barbie in their likeness. This Thursday, Mattel launched in Europe and North America a new Signature Barbie inspired by the Canadian singer as she appeared in 1998. The figurine features her features, her hairstyle as well as the dress she wore at the time.
According to “Le Parisien”, the doll represents the superstar during her performance of “My Heart Will Go On” at the 70th Academy Awards, in March 1998. The song, emblematic of the film “Titanic”, won the trophy for best original song. For this evening, the singer sported curly brown hair, a long blue dress with a turtleneck and a pendant inspired by the one worn by Kate Winslet in the film. She is the first French-speaking singer to enter this very select collection for adults.
This release comes in the middle of Celine Dion’s return to the stage. The singer began a series of concerts in Paris on September 12, which will continue until October 17, before resuming in May 2027.
Soon in Switzerland?
Mattel presented this collectible doll on October 14, with a recommended retail price of 78 euros (66.60 francs). In Switzerland, the Celine Dion Barbie should be available at Galaxus “in the coming days or weeks”, indicates the retailer.
