Angèle withdraws two days before the ceremony

Bad surprise for Angèle fans. The 30-year-old Belgian singer will ultimately not participate in the NRJ Music Awards, organized Friday evening in Cannes and broadcast live on TF1.

The information, revealed Wednesday by the media CGTV, was confirmed by “Le Parisien”. The interpreter of “Balance ton quoi” is said to be unwell, even if no additional details have been communicated on his state of health.

This last minute cancellation complicates preparations for the ceremony. Angèle was to speak several times during the evening, alongside stars like Indochine, David Guetta, Charlotte Cardin and Orelsan.

The Belgian is also nominated in two categories: “Female artist of the year” and “French-speaking collaboration of the year”, for her work with the electro duo Justice. His absence represents a setback for the organizers of an event which attracted 2.43 million viewers last year.

A new album that is struggling to take off

This withdrawal also comes at an important moment for Angèle’s career. Last Friday, she released “Instinct”, her third album, after the successes of “Brol” and “Nonante- cinq”.

This new album, mixing French and English, marks a desire to open up more to the international market, particularly after his collaboration with Dua Lipa.

But according to “Le Parisien”, the first results on streaming platforms would be less convincing than hoped. The daily also published a mixed review of the album, welcoming certain electronic daring while regretting that the productions sometimes take precedence over the melodies.

Angèle must nevertheless find her audience on stage in 2027 with her “Instinct Tour”, several additional dates of which have already been announced in response to demand.
