This is not the first time she has spoken out on the subject. Camille Lellouche has never hidden the fact that she suffered from a drink addiction. Invited to the microphone of the podcast “Midi Minuit”, a show broadcast on the France TV Slash YouTube channel, the singer and comedian looked back on a dark period in her life and confided: “I drank one bottle a day, at least.”
Camille Lellouche explained the circumstances that led her to become dependent on alcohol: “When you drink just to quell sorrows, frustrations… It’s not joy. Joy lasts 1 hour when you drink your first drinks. This is what makes it become an addiction. You have the impression that the more you drink, the better you get, in fact the more you drink, the more depressed you are, the more you want to die.”
Alcoholism without symptoms
In “Tell you everything”, a biography published in March 2024, the artist spoke of her battle against alcohol and already warned against what she calls “alcoholism without symptoms”. In this very personal book, Camille Lellouche said that she was “capable of drinking a bottle of vodka, without any trace of drunkenness”.
At the microphone of the podcast, the 40-year-old actress recalled the insidious mechanisms of addiction: if she did not feel drunk, she still drank again to relieve the symptoms of addiction: “The tremors and everything. You’re very irritable when you don’t drink,” she admitted. A life that she lived for many years and which began when she started working as a waitress in a bar in Paris.
The young mother, whose condition hardly worried those around her professionals, managed to overcome her demons thanks to the arrival of her partner in her life. In “Midi Minuit”, Camille Lellouche explained the ultimatum her partner had given her: “Listen, it’s very simple. You tell me that you want to have a healthy life, start a family and I won’t stay with someone who drinks.” An ultimatum that she took seriously since the couple welcomed the arrival of a little girl in 2022.
