The Youth League A match between FC Concordia Lausanne and CS La Tour-de-Peilz degenerated on Sunday October 4. Violent clashes broke out on the pitch, forcing the referee to interrupt the match in the 75th minute, when the score was 1-1. Tensions then continued in front of the locker room.
The Neuchâtel Football Association (ANF), which supervises the Youth League A championship at the French-speaking level, has now delivered its verdict. According to her, a kick delivered by a player from La Tour-de-Peilz “triggered a general brawl that became uncontrollable”. The body recalls that “such behavior is incompatible with the requirements of fair play and safety which must prevail during a football match”.
The ANF Disciplinary Commission did not take half measures. The two groups each received a fine of 1,000 francs. The result of the match is set at 0-0, with no points awarded. Six additional points will also be deducted from each team once the opposition period has expired.
A coach and four players suspended
On an individual level, however, the sanctions are different. No FC Concordia Lausanne player has been suspended, but their coach will have to serve a six-match suspension.
On the side of CS La Tour-de-Peilz, four players received heavy suspensions. Their exact duration has not been communicated, these decisions may still be subject to appeal.
The La Tour-de-Peilz club reacted through its president. “The club reiterates its anger at these excesses which nothing justifies,” he declared. He specifies that he accepts collective sanctions and renounces contesting them. Management also intends to “strongly advise” the players concerned not to appeal against their individual suspensions.
