Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz, winner of the Giro in 2019 and Olympic champion two years later in Tokyo, has signed for the next two seasons with NSN Cycling, this Switzerland-based team announced on Friday. Carapaz, 33, has been playing with the American EF Education team since 2023.
“Obtaining the signature of Richard Carapaz is an important moment for our team and a turning point for the development of our sporting project,” said in a press release Kjell Carlstrom, general manager of NSN Cycling, the team which took over a year ago from the Israel-Premier Tech team.
“For me, it’s an incredible opportunity as a rider to be part of this project and, above all, to be one of the leaders of the team… I’m very impatient,” Carapaz reacted.
In addition to his final success in the Giro and at the Tokyo Olympics, the Ecuadorian climber has a podium at the Tour of Spain (2nd in 2020) and 10 stage victories in the three Grand Tours, the last two during the 2026 Grande Boucle, at Orcières-Merlette then at Alpe d’Huez.
