A shower of thanks and messages of sadness flooded Indochina’s last Instagram post. Bassist Marc Éliard (known as “Marco”) announced that he was retiring at age 68. He was the second oldest member of the legendary group after singer Nicola Sirkis, who had been in the adventure since 1981.
In his farewell message on social networks, Marc Éliard did not fail to thank the leader of the group, as well as the Indochina entourage. “Thank you to Nicola for these 3 incredible decades. Thank you also to the management, to all the musicians, technicians, labels, tour producers, security agents… whom I have had the immense privilege of being able to meet and appreciate over these years,” he wrote.
Marc Éliard made this decision in order to spend more time with his family. “After 34 years spent in Indochina, to end in apotheosis at the Accor Arena in Bercy at the end of this fabulous Arena Tour, I decided to turn the page and put away my bass to enjoy a well-deserved retirement and devote myself to my family and loved ones,” he explained.
Three concerts in Geneva in December
Obviously, the bassist also thanked the public who came in large numbers over the years to attend the group’s concerts. “Above all, a huge thank you to you, the public!! for the concerts, including the stadiums, the albums and all those smiles which generated so much energy to allow me to accomplish this wonderful adventure.”
Several Indochina concerts are already scheduled for the coming weeks, including those of December 15, 16 and 17 at the Geneva Arena. Will Marc Éliard still be present or has the group already found a replacement for him?
