With 110 World Cup victories and six big crystal globes, Mikaela Shiffrin has won almost everything on the slopes. But at 31, the fiancée of Norwegian Kilde is still pursuing a quest that is giving her a lot of trouble: finding perfectly comfortable underwear.
In an episode of her podcast “What’s the Point”, the skier addresses this very personal subject with Kylie Kelce, wife of former American football player Jason Kelce. And the two women are far from sharing the same tastes.
“Why tangas? I’m a big fan of granny panties,” says Mikaela Shiffrin, who doesn’t hide her preference for classic, full-coverage models.
His guest, on the contrary, defends thongs. Former field hockey player, Kylie Kelce explains that she adopted these underwear to avoid visible marks under her sports outfits. A habit that she has kept.
The thongs? Very little for her!
A prospect which hardly seems to appeal to the ski champion. “Ouch, ouch, ouch,” she exclaims at the mention of these high-cut models. But Mikaela Shiffrin readily admits that she still hasn’t found her happiness. For about six years, she has been testing different underwear in the hope of finding a model that is comfortable, well-fitting and pleasant to wear.
Kylie Kelce then decides to help him. She recommends a high-waisted tanga, enveloping enough to rest on the hips without compressing. The skier appears ready to try the experience. “I’ll definitely take a look at it, because I really need help,” she admits.
