Shakira and her ex-partner, former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, met on Tuesday in a Barcelona court to discuss a change in the terms of visitation rights for their two sons, defined after their separation in 2022, said the Colombian star’s legal team.
Shakira, currently in concert in Madrid, has asked to reduce the number of trips made by their children between Miami, where they live daily with her, and Barcelona, where their father resides, in order to “protect their emotional, physical and academic well-being”, explained her legal representatives in a press release.
She therefore suggests that Gerard Piqué go to Miami during their vacation, so that the children can “keep their routine longer,” they argued.
With this request, the singer “does not intend to reduce the time that children spend with their father,” the same source specifies.
Shakira and Pique revealed their relationship in 2011. Two children were then born from their union, Milan and Sasha, in 2013 and 2015. After more than a decade of living together, the couple publicly announced their separation in June 2022.
A few months later, they reached an agreement regarding the custody of their children, following which the Colombian star left Barcelona to settle with them in Miami.
Gerard Piqué, former world football champion in 2010 with Spain, has, for his part, several days per month as well as vacation periods to be with his two sons.
Shakira, 49, ends her world tour in Madrid with a series of 13 concerts, until October 12.
The Colombian star began a tour in February 2025 entitled “Las mujeres ya no lloran” (“Women don’t cry anymore”), a set of songs which evokes her romantic breakup with Gerard Piqué, winner of a Grammy award.
