“Choosin› Texas,” a country ballad by hitherto little-known singer Ella Langley, broke the record on Tuesday for the number of weeks at the top of Billboard magazine’s American top 100, previously held by Mariah Carey.
The song, released last October, has been at the top of the chart for 23 weeks, which includes streaming, radio and sales listening data, explains the publication, which draws its figures from the company Luminate.
Ella Langley, 27, beats American legend Mariah Carey, holder of the previous record for many years with her unbeatable Christmas song, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
“It changes my life, the lives of those who wrote the song and the lives of my family,” the Alabama native exclaimed Tuesday in a video on Instagram, promising to go “celebrate tonight.”
It is already in a bar that this breakup song with its strong Texas imagination takes place, with cowboy hats, pick-ups and cowboy boots.
