Trump renames AI and sets Slovenian domain names soaring

Donald Trump did the business of Slovenia by wanting to rename “artificial intelligence” (AI) to “super intelligence” (SI). On September 23, before the United Nations General Assembly, the American president considered that the term “artificial intelligence” was too negative, because it “gives the impression that it is false.” He added that the United States would begin using “the much more correct term ‘Super Intelligence – SI'” in its official documents.

Following this speech, Slovenia experienced an unexpected increase in requests for internet addresses. It turns out that “.si” is the country’s national domain name extension, which can be requested by both local residents and foreigners.

A sharp increase in requests

“Since this speech, we have observed a strong but steady increase in requests for use of the “.si” domain,” Klara Herman, spokesperson for Register.si, the organization responsible for managing domain names in Slovenia, told AFP. The agency explains that it has registered an average of 3,700 new domains per day since Trump’s speech, compared to only around 3,500 for the entire month of August, bringing the total to more than 220,000 last Tuesday.

In a statement published on its website, the agency “strongly recommends that owners of trademarks, slogans, company names and anyone else who does not already own a .si domain register one as soon as possible.”

Tuesday evening, after the big bosses of the AI sector adopted on Monday a code of good conduct on a voluntary basis under his supervision, Donald Trump published on his Truth Social network a decree formalizing the new name of “super intelligence” for future uses by the American administration.
