Daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte of Wales is a true cricket enthusiast. So that she could satisfy her passion for this very popular sport in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries, her grandfather, King Charles III, would have decided to build a new synthetic cricket pitch on his private estate in Sandringham, reveals “The Sun”.
The sovereign’s estate is already home to the Sandringham and Dersingham Cricket Club. According to the English tabloid, the club would have submitted a building permit application in order to enlarge an already existing plot of land, which had become unsuitable for the needs of the community.
This project will provide “high quality, weather-resistant training and playing capabilities for junior and senior members of the club, without over-stressing the main grass pitch”. Its cost is 9,000 pounds sterling, or a little less than 10,000 Swiss francs.
A sports enthusiast
Still according to the same source, it was Princess Charlotte who encouraged the king to undertake this project. In a video released by the royal family in May, to mark his birthday, he could briefly be seen playing cricket with his little brother, Prince Louis.
