At 13, sensation Yu Zidi wins gold in the 200m butterfly

Chinese Yu Zidi won the gold medal in the 200m butterfly at the Asian Games in Japan on Sunday at the age of 13, two years before the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Yu, who turns 14 in October, swam in 2:05:08, almost half a second slower than the time set by compatriot Zhang Zufei (2:05.57) to win the event at the previous Asian Games three years ago in Hangzhou.

Sunday in Tokyo, where the swimming events are being held, Yu crushed the race by 03 sec 36/100ths ahead of her compatriot Chang Mohan who won the silver medal. The Chinese prodigy is also entered in the 200m medley and 400m medley.

Last year, at age 12, she became the youngest medalist at a world championships, when she won bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
