Building on its success at the end of the match in Basel on Thursday, FC Sion started the meeting with full of confidence on Sunday. The Thounois thus suffered the Valais offensives from the first minute of play, and it was the crossbar which came to save them with a beautiful volley from Lavanchy (6th).
Even if FC Sion could not have started better, a defensive marking error spoiled the start of the match. Indeed, alone in front of the goal, Bamert was able to take a free kick well taken by Fehr (10th).
This goal against the run of play did not dampen the morale of the Valaisans, who came back to score thanks to Sow (21st). A new twist of fate disrupted the smooth running of the local team with the expulsion of Sylla for a second, somewhat naive warning (41st).
But, once again, FC Sion was able to ignore this loss and went on the offensive again from the start of the second period. Rrudhani won a penalty and took justice into his own hands (53rd). However, a further absence from the Sédunoise defense allowed the reigning champion to come back to the score thanks to a volley from Fehr (71st).
And once again, FC Sion did not give up and managed to find the resources to win at the end of the match, following a corner well taken by Chouaref and taken by Lukembila (94th).
With their two victories acquired this week, Didier Tholot’s men find themselves on the Super League podium, with one game less.
