New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the United States Tennis Federation (USTA) announced Tuesday the sale of 1,000 tickets at $100 to attend matches at the US Open.
Offered online on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time (4 p.m. in Switzerland) on a “first come, first served” basis, these tickets will be accessible only to residents of New York, who can purchase up to two.
These are places for the main draw, from August 30, including some on the prestigious Arthur-Ashe and Louis-Armstrong courts. According to TicketData, an independent ticket price tracking platform, the cheapest ticket to attend the US Open currently sells for around $288 on average.
“If the best tennis players in the world come to our city, New Yorkers must be able to see them play,” said Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has made the fight against the high cost of living the central axis of his mandate, in a press release.
“Access to tennis will always remain our priority, and we are proud to be able to offer this offer” to the residents of New York, “a city that has hosted the US Open for more than 100 years,” underlined Craig Tiley, general director of the USTA.
