Between 2009 and 2015, Marc-Emmanuel Dufour embodied solidarity on French screens on TF1 by mobilizing armies of volunteers to rebuild the homes of families in distress. Today, he is the one who finds himself destitute. On the evening of Tuesday, August 4, a violent fire caused by lightning completely destroyed the Chalet de la Croix, a building located on the heights of Salève, in neighboring France.
The former host, investor in this place steeped in family history, was carrying out major renovation work there in the hope of opening a restaurant there soon. The exceptional panorama, considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints over the Geneva basin, was to bring this bend in the 3 Lakes road back to life. “I have nothing left, everything has gone up in smoke,” confided, in tears, the ex-presenter when he noticed the disaster.
An inverted “All together”
Faced with the despair of the one who gave so much, his admirers were quick to react. The administrators of a Facebook page dedicated to Marc-Emmanuel immediately launched an online prize pool. The stated objective is clear: to operate a reverse “All together” to return to the host the good he has sown during his television career. In the space of just four days, the outpouring of generosity made it possible to raise nearly 9,000 euros.
Despite the psychological shock and the extent of the material damage, Marc-Emmanuel Dufour refuses to give up: “The lightning brought us to our knees but we will get up again.” Carried by the messages of affection and this beginning of financial aid, he firmly expressed his desire to rebuild.
