A great hope in Swiss football finds himself involved in a major legal case in Brazil. Indeed, as revealed by the “Gazzetta dello Sport”, Nicolas Bosshardt (19 years old) allegedly fatally struck an 84-year-old pedestrian on the night of Monday to Tuesday, in Barueri.
The São Paulo player is being prosecuted by Brazilian courts for manslaughter. He is accused, according to the testimony of a passerby, of having participated in an illegal street race. The Italian media indicates that Nicolas Bosshardt only held his driving license since the beginning of the year.
Arrested the same evening as the incident, the young man was released the next day after an initial interrogation. The judge ordered his release on bail, while specifying that there was “sufficient evidence and elements to charge him with participation in a street race and involuntary manslaughter”.
Negative alcohol test
Nicolas Bosshardt, who will now have to appear in court every month, keep his address up to date and not leave his home for more than eight days without authorization, has denied, through his lawyers, any participation in an urban rodeo.
They claim that the fatally injured pedestrian crossed the road outside of a pedestrian crossing. Furthermore, according to their version of the facts, Nicolas Bosshardt was not driving at excessive speed. The player, whose blood alcohol test was negative, remained at the scene of the accident, called for help before going to the police station.
