The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, former world No.3, won his first title in almost a year and a half on Sunday, beating the Belgian Raphaël Collignon in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Gstaad, on clay, 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-3.
The first Greek player to win the Gstaad tournament, Tsitsipas collected his 13th career trophy there, the first since his victory at the ATP 500 in Dubai on March 1, 2025.
The 27-year-old Athenian fell to 85th in the world this year, after being 3rd in the world in 2021. He also played and lost two Grand Slam finals, at Roland-Garros in 2021 and at the Australian Open in 2023.
Stefanos Tsitsipas also won the 2019 ATP Masters in London, among the eight best players in the world, and the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo three times (2021, 2022, 2024).
Before beating Raphaël Collignon, 42nd in the world who was playing his first final on the circuit at the age of 24, the Greek notably dismissed the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, seeded N.4, in the quarter-final.
He succeeds Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik on the list.
