Jonas Vingegaard, who abandoned the Tour de France on Sunday by falling heavily during the 15th stage, suffers from a broken collarbone which “will require surgery due to its severity”, announced his team Visma-Lease a bike.
“Jonas suffered a broken collarbone and multiple abrasions. Due to the severity of the clavicle fracture, surgery was recommended and will be carried out in the coming days,” the Dutch team said.

Second in the general classification at the start of this 15th stage, the Dane went to the ground in a roundabout, around twenty kilometers from the finish. He got into the ambulance with his right arm in a sling, writhing in pain.
