End of suspense. We now know who will have the difficult task of succeeding Mauro Lustrinelli on the FC Thun bench. The Oberland club, recent Swiss champion for the first time in its history, announced Thursday that it had signed Gian-Luca Privitelli for the 2026-2027 season.

The Italian-Swiss knows FC Thun well since he worked in the training sector (U18 and U21 coach) between 2018 and 2021. He then joined FC Basel, also in the training sector, before taking the reins of the Swiss U20 team.

This will therefore be the first experience at the head of a professional team for Gian-Luca Privitelli. With this choice, Thun followed the path of FC Lucerne, which a few weeks ago also decided to entrust its first team to Jörg Portmann, a coach from the training sector.

The 48-year-old technician will be in the spotlight from the start of his mandate since Thun will compete this summer in qualifying for the prestigious Champions League.
