St. Gallen lifts the Cup, SLO misses its chance

Stade Lausanne Ouchy had a unique opportunity to restart its final. Trailing since the 8th minute after Gaal opened the score, SLO saw Saint-Gall lose their goalkeeper Watkowiak just before the break after a huge restart error.

Eleven against ten for an entire half, the Lausanne players seemed to have the cards in hand. But the expected scenario never happened.

After the break, SLO returned with better intentions, without really putting St. Gallen under pressure. When Görtler doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 65th minute after VAR intervention, the match definitely changed.

The end of the meeting confirmed the Vaudois limits. Not very dangerous offensively, the SLO showed almost nothing before giving in a third time on a goal from Witzig barely coming into play.

Saint-Gall lifts the Cup with authority despite its numerical inferiority. This defeat of SLO also affects FC Sion, qualified for the UEFA Conference League play-offs.
