The Dane Jonas Vingegaard won the 16th stage of the Tour of Italy alone on Tuesday in the Swiss resort of Cari, his fourth victory in this Giro, to further increase his lead at the top of the general classification.
This is the fourth victory in as many summit finishes for the leader of Visma Lease a bike who took off 6.5 km from the finish of this short 113 kilometer stage traced entirely in Switzerland, between Bellinzona and Cari.
He was more than a minute ahead of the Austrian Felix Gall and the Australian Jay Hindley to consolidate his pink jersey with more than four minutes ahead five stages from the final finish in Rome on Sunday.
