STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO IMPROVE DRIVING SURFACE ON MD 140, MD 97 AND MD 27 INTERCHANGE RAMPS OVER NEXT TWO WEEKENDS

Work on Each Ramp will Take Three Hours to Complete; Detours Planned

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will improve the driving surface on the MD 140 (College View Boulevard) and MD 97 (Littlestown Pike) and the MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) and MD 27 (Manchester Road) interchanges in Westminster, Carroll County, over the next two weekends.

Starting Friday, March 8, at 9 p.m., the westbound MD 140 ramp to MD 97 will close for work. Crews will work on one ramp at a time with each ramp taking approximately three hours to complete. Motorists will be detoured during the ramp closure. The interchange improvements will be complete by 5 a.m. on Monday, March 11.

On Friday, March 15, at 9 p.m., crews will begin working on the MD 140 and MD 27 (Manchester Road) interchange. It will be complete by 5 a.m. on Monday, March 18.

On the interchanges, crews will use a road preservation technique called diamond grinding to remove road surface imperfections. This will create a more even ride, reduce noise and improve friction.

Contractor, MIM Construction, Inc. of Mount Airy, will use electronic message boards, signs, and barrels to safely guide motorists through the work zone and detour route.
