Type of Incident: Garage Fire

Description of Structure / Property: Thee-bay, masonry building (detached)

Injuries or Deaths: None reported

Estimated $ Loss: $100,000.00

Smoke Alarm Status: Not present

Fire Alarm / Sprinkler Status: Not present

Discovered By: Owner 

Area of Origin: Vehicle inside of the garage

Preliminary Cause: Accidental – due to embers from metal grinding on the involved vehicle

Additional Information: The owner was repairing one of his vehicles and was using metal grinder when he saw smoke coming from the car; which subsequently caught fire. He attempted to use fire extinguishers, however the fire grew beyond his control. The owner, his wife and dog were able to escape the home. The fire caused extensive heat came to the side of their home. The garage and all contents within are a complete loss.
