17 Grammy Awards, more than 100 million albums sold and concerts in the biggest cities on the planet, in the biggest stadiums and at the biggest festivals. Sting is a music superstar. On the occasion of his “Sting 3.0” European tour, the former frontman of the group The Police will make a stop in Switzerland during the summer of 2027.

Zurich, Bern, Geneva or even Lausanne? No, the singer chose Kestenholz, a small village of 1900 inhabitants, for his only Swiss date. He will perform on July 9 at the St. Peter at Sunset festival, which takes place from July 7 to 11 in the Solothurn town, the organizers of the event announced this Monday. The festival can accommodate up to 4,000 spectators, which will allow a certain proximity between festival-goers and the artist.

A minimalist tour

With his “STING 3.0” tour, Sting offers a new version of his greatest hits. Exit the big bands: the 75-year-old musician opts for a more intimate formula, accompanied by his faithful guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas.

A taste of this tour is already available on the album “STING 3.0 LIVE”, which brings together ten pieces recorded in concert. It includes “Fragile”, as well as the very first official live version of “Be Still My Beating Heart”.

On July 10, the festival will welcome another music star: Scottish singer Amy Macdonald. In the past, several stars such as Lionel Richie, Bryan Adams and Eros Ramazzotti have performed there.
