Ryanair tightens its baggage check-in rules

- Jackson Avery

Travelers flying with Ryanair will now need to allow more time at the airport. From November 10, the low-cost airline will change its conditions for checking in checked baggage.

Counters will now close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time, 20 minutes earlier than currently. After this period, passengers risk no longer being able to check in their suitcases and being refused boarding, without reimbursement of their ticket.

This new rule will apply to all routes operated by Ryanair, regardless of the departure airport. On the other hand, travelers who only take cabin baggage are not affected by this change.

Avoid passengers stuck at controls

Ryanair justifies this decision by its desire to reduce the number of travelers who miss their plane due to queues at security or passport checks.

By bringing forward the closing of the counters, the company intends to give passengers more time to go through these stages and reach their boarding gate.
