The youngest son of King Charles III, who spent six years in the United States with his wife Meghan after falling out with the royal family, wants to “reconcile” with his father and his brother, Prince William, he said in this video interview recorded at the end of September in New York.

“Some people don’t want to resolve things – I hope so (…) With everything that’s happening in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile,” said the 42-year-old prince. Harry’s spokesperson clarified Tuesday that the comment was “absolutely not a dig at his brother or any other family member.”

“Some battles have been fought, rightly so, but I hope we can all draw a line under that,” added the prince, in reference to disagreements with his family, but also to the powerful British press, whose methods he has denounced on several occasions in court.

Harry also indicated that his father Charles, treated for cancer for more than two and a half years, was “doing better”, without further details.

Years of psychotherapy

Even if some “scars remain forever”, the prince, father of Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, claimed to be “in a much better psychological state than ten years ago”.

The prince said he underwent years of psychotherapy after the death of his mother, Diana, in a car accident in Paris in 1997, when he was just 12 years old. “One of my biggest regrets was about my last phone call with her,” he said, explaining that he was then in a hurry to go play with his cousins. “If I had known this was our last call, this conversation would have been different.”

Asked about the reasons for his return to the United Kingdom at the end of August, Harry notably indicated that he had returned for “opportunities, for the family, to be able to put the children in a British school”.

Glad to be back in England

“They have been at school (in England) for two weeks, they love it and it gives them a completely different experience,” he added, welcoming being “close to friends, to family members” again.

Harry and Meghan, who have settled in the Cotswolds region, made their first public outing on Thursday in Nottingham (central England), where they visited charities and received a warm welcome from the public.
