Thomas Markle (82), father of Duchess Meghan, would be the target of an investigation in the Philippines after the alleged discovery of child pornography, reports the British tabloid “The Sun”. His son, Thomas Markle Jr., claims to have found numerous images and videos while examining his father’s personal effects in the Philippines, before notifying the authorities. “Maybe people finally understand why she no longer wants anything to do with her father since 2018,” a source presented as close to Meghan told the “Sun”.
According to the tabloid, Thomas Markle Jr. discovered the material on different media kept in several boxes, including old cell phones and hard drives. He claims to have found “hundreds, if not thousands” of images. He said he reported his discovery to several American authorities, including the FBI, before examining other data carriers with the help of a computer specialist.
Philippine authorities are investigating
Still according to “The Sun”, the Philippine authorities have formed a specialized team to investigate the case. The media concerned must be seized and subjected to forensic analysis. The FBI also reportedly confirmed having received a sworn statement from Thomas Markle Jr. However, it is not established at this stage whether the American federal police will open their own investigation.
Thomas Markle Sr. is now reportedly residing in a treatment and rehabilitation facility in Florida. His son claims to have been horrified by his discovery, which prompted him to alert the authorities.
No contact with Meghan since 2018
Thomas Markle Sr. has not had contact with his daughter since 2018. Their relationship deteriorated shortly before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry, which her father ultimately did not attend.
At this stage, the accusations against Thomas Markle Sr. have not been established by the courts. According to “The Sun”, he did not comment on the facts with which he is accused.
