It’s been a while since Daniel Craig hung up his phone. Five years after the release of “No Time to Die” (2021), itself postponed due to the pandemic, the James Bond costume is still waiting for its next tenant. And there are many suitors who want to slip in.
Over the months and years, several names have circulated, including those of Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi and even James Norton. But according to the international press, the home stretch would be between Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor. A fourth actor, whose identity remains secret, would also take part in the final trials held in London these days.
A release in 2028?
If Amazon MGM Studios has not yet confirmed any name, whoever gets the license to kill will then become the seventh actor to officially play James Bond in the cinema.
In the meantime, we at least know that Denis Villeneuve (the “Dune” saga) will be in charge and a release in 2028 is mentioned. It remains to find the rare bird. Because after the very robust and splendid Daniel Craig, putting on the 007 tuxedo will not be a simple formality.
