Apple has responded to the first cases of cracked screens on its iPhone Duo. After the appearance of several testimonials during the weekend, the American manufacturer acknowledged to the specialized site 9to5Mac the existence of a problem affecting certain copies of its foldable smartphone.

“We are aware of an issue affecting the internal display of a small number of iPhone Duos,” Apple said. The tech giant invites affected customers to contact AppleCare, its technical support service, to obtain a replacement for the device. The specialized site specifies that customers do not need to have subscribed to the AppleCare+ paid coverage plan to benefit from a replacement.

A “very small” proportion of iPhone Duos

Apple emphasizes that only a “very small” proportion of iPhone Duos would be affected. The reported cracks appear on the interior screen, along the hinge, and appear to appear after only a few bends of the device.

The first testimonies were published on the Reddit platform. While several cases appear to be genuine, 9to5Mac reports that false reports accompanied by AI-generated images have also circulated online.
